India-Bangladesh Winter School on High Energy Physics

The India-Bangladesh Winter School 2019 in High Energy Physics was held at IUB from December 17-21, 2019. Eighty graduate and advanced undergraduate students were selected from across the country for attending the Winter School. The five-day long Event was inaugurated on December 17, 2019 by Prof. Milan Pagon, Vice Chancellor (Acting) and was sponsored by Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).


Keynote Speakers of the Event were, Prof. Ashoke Sen from Harish-Chandra Research Institute, India; Prof. Sreerup Raychaudhuri from Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India; Prof. Sumit Das from University of Kentucky; and Dr. Nabil Iqbal from Durham University who discussed on the following topics; Particle Physics, Cosmology and String Theory.


All participants had opportunities to share their ideas and thoughts with the distinguished speakers. The lectures were followed by tutorial sessions. However, before this Winter School, a three day pre-school was held for advanced undergraduate students. There the lectures were given by Prof. Arshad Momen from IUB; Dr. Rakibur Rahman; Dr. Syed Hadibul Hassan Chowdhury; and Dr. Talal Ahmed Chowdhury from University of Dhaka. The local organizers of the event were Dr. Asma Begum; Dr. S.N.M. Azizul Hoque; and Dr. Readul Mahmud.
